May 2017 Rally

Our May Rally was an adventure to the South Carolina shore in Myrtle Beach. With the majority of campers arriving on Wednesday, it was a long weekend loaded with fun and adventure. Wednesday kicked off with dinner at Capt. George’s Seafood and a buffet that included just about every food we knew and some we didn’t.
David Martin, supported by Joyce from home, provided a sumptuous breakfast every morning and grilled dogs and burgers for Thursday’s Pot Luck Dinner. Thursday evening the group checked out the Alabama Theatre and enjoyed “One the Show” with a trip down musical memory lane.
Friday brought a nature trip to Brookgreen Gardens for some, and then an athletic competition as Baynard Barton teamed with Pattie Nichols to win the 1st Cardinal Virginian Corn Hole Tournament of 2017.
A victory dinner was shared by the campers at California Dreaming. Our physical prowess was further challenged on Saturday with a Putt-Putt Tournament won by our golfing leaders, Gene and Judy Matthews. Saturday dinner saw the group split with about half risking life and limb on the Pirate Voyage Dinner Show, and the balance enjoying a relaxing evening around the campground.
Sunday saw the majority of this group of satisfied campers bidding farewell to the beach and heading home, with a few spending an additional night to relax and recharge their batteries. David Martin, with the long distance support of Joyce, provided an amazing fun filled adventure in his debut performance as Rally Sponsor and Host.
