October 2017 Rally

Five coaches convened at Cherry Stone Campground at beautiful Cape Charles, Virginia. Attending were Judy and Gene Matthews, Feliza Jones, Patty and John Nichols, Paul and Carol Melton, and Hosts Rick and Cindy Roberson.
Most coaches arrived on Thursday to take advantage of the long drive to the Eastern Shore. It is noteworthy that every coach survived the journey through the Bay Bridge Tunnel.
It turns out that Cherry Stone is a very family oriented campground with about 900 sites fully booked for Halloween festivities. Many RV’s were decked out in Halloween décor and Trick or Treat children entertained all.
Friday and Saturday were spent exploring the area – including Chincoteague and Assateague Islands with their famous “Ponies”, the Chatham Winery, and a local agricultural fair. We also enjoyed discovering the amazing local seafood offerings of oysters, crab, etc.
Our hosts, Rick and Cindy made sure none of us went hungry!
Friday evening, we had an amazing dining experience at Oyster Farm Restaurant. Then on Saturday morning, the Roberson’s spoiled our group with an abundant breakfast of pancakes, fruit, and bacon and eggs.
Saturday, after Trick or Treat, and Happy Hour (grown-up trick-or-treat), we were treated to a Robertson Beef Stew and cornbread dinner, followed by Feliza’s yummy deserts.
Sunday morning we said our good-byes after a Covered Dish Breakfast and devotions from Cindy.
