April 2021 Rally

Dates: April 23-25

Location: Mt Jackson, VA

Hosts: Timm and Sharon Seaman

Campground: Shenandoah Family Campground

Our first rally in over a year! How wonderful it was to be able to get together again and catch up with our fellow Cardinal Virginians. Official rally dates were April 23-25, 2021 but most of us came on the 22nd because we just could not wait that extra day!

Attendees included: Feliza Jones, Baynard and Sherrie Barton, Bill and Cheryl Brown, Gene and Judy Matthews, Paul and Carol Melton, Steve and Jeannie Miller, Rex and Betty Monroe, Kamal Rojiani, and Timm and Sharon Seaman for a total of 9 coaches. Also the Millers daughter Kelly and her husband Aaron, and grandkids Sadie and Zane came Friday evening to join us for the weekend. This gave us a total of 20 people attending (see attached photo courtesy of Steve Miller).

A few of the Thursday arrivals went out to dinner at Sal’s Italian Bistro in Edinburg.

Friday we were on our own to explore. Paul, Carol and Feliza visited Muse Winery, Sherrie and Baynard visited Seven Bend State Park, Betty and Rex went to Front Royal to visit a cousin. Gene and Judy and Bill and Cheryl relaxed at the campground. Timm and Sharon went to the potato chip factory and took care of some hosting duties. Kamal arrived Friday afternoon. Friday evening, we enjoyed great fellowship during happy hour follow by a potluck dinner which had a wonderful variety of good food; dinner was followed by Feliza’s yummy lemon pie dessert. Timm started a fire in the pavilion fire ring and few of us ventured out in the cool crisp air to enjoy the fire.

Saturday morning we were on our own. In the afternoon several of us met at Third Hill Winery for tasting, lunch and music. We enjoyed the music until the cool windy weather overtook us and we all wimped out and came back to our coaches. Kamal had never been to the potato chip factory so Rex and Betty took him to check it out. The Millers were there tasting the great chips and in addition to visiting the potato chip factory the Millers had toured the Shenandoah Caverns. Baynard and Sherrie went to visit Robbie and John Davis who are camp hosting at Shenandoah River State Park. Bill and Cheryl relaxed at the campground. We gathered for happy hour at 5:00 in the camp activity center. Timm and Sharon had pizza and chicken wings delivered for dinner. After dinner we had a business meeting led by our president Bill.

On Sunday morning we met back at the activity center for a continental breakfast provided by our rally host. Following breakfast we had our devotional time lead by Bill. He started the devotion with the verse Psalms 118:24 “This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it”. After devotions we all said our goodbyes and went our separate ways until we meet again.

Thus ending our first rally of 2021…a good time was had by all. Thank you Timm and Sharon for hosting a great rally!
