August 2021 Rally

Dates: August 19-21, 2021

Location: Waynesboro, VA

Hosts: Handys and Lamberts

Campground: Wayneboro North 340 Campground

The August Rally was held August 19-22, 2021, at the Waynesboro North 340 Campground. Our co-hosts were Tim and Donna Handy and Gary and Jane Lambert.

First a big thank you to the Hendy’s and Lambert’s for pulling together this rally in such a short time! And what a great rally it was!!

We had 9 coaches present for the rally. Attendees included our hosts Tim and Donna Handy, Gary and Jane Lambert, Bill and Cheryl Brown, Feliza Jones, Denny and Cheryl Bird, John and Robbie Davis, Steve and Lynn Bowers, Doug and Arona Richard, Rex and Betty Monroe, and their guest Steve Roberts. In addition to our campers, CV members Larry and Mary Shifflett stopped by for a visit on Friday evening for happy hour. On Saturday evening friends of the Bird’s, Carol and Marvin Rilinger, stopped by for a visit. Also, Robbie and John met a couple in the campground from Culpeper, Kevin and Robin Westvill, and they came over for happy hour on Saturday night.

On Thursday evening we had our traditional happy hour where we were able to catch up on what everyone had been doing. Dinner was on our own that evening.
On Friday it was a misty overcast day, so everyone just stated around the campground and relaxed. Happy hour was a potluck of heavy hors d’oeuvres which was a meal in of itself. Happy hour was concluded with a delicious peach cobbler, made by Jane, and served with vanilla ice cream.

On Saturday, we started the day with a filling potluck breakfast. In the afternoon we were all invited by Denny Bird to the Waynesboro Elk Club for a picnic lunch honoring Veterans and First Responders. What a spread they provided, and the desserts were yummy and too numerous and to count! We returned to the campground for happy hour, but I think everyone was too full from the Elk’s picnic lunch to partake of the goodies.
For dinner Saturday evening our hosts provided delicious grilled chicken and ribs with attendees providing a side dish. And as always, to top of a great dinner we were treated to two of Feliza’s scrumptiously delicious desserts. The dinner was followed by lots of fun fellowship and chitchat.

Sunday morning our hosts provided a continental breakfast which was followed by a short business meeting and a devotional lead by Bill. He provided each of us with a fun handout in which we were to match Bible figures to song titles. Our rally ended with a prayer for safe travels until we meet again.
