June 2021 Rally

Dates: June 18-21

Location: Greenville, VA

Hosts:Gene/Judy and Betty/Rex

Campground: Stoney Creek Campground

The June rally was held at Stoney Creek Campground from June 18 - 20. Members in attendance were Gene and Judy Matthews, Rex Monroe and Betty Franklin, Feliza Jones, Bill and Cheryl Brown, Tim and Donna Handy, Denny and Cheryl Bird, and Baynard and Sherree Barton. Also in attendance were some four-legged friends (Dallas and Cocoh, and Johnny and Rusty).

Most of the members arrived on Thursday afternoon. We enjoyed an early happy hour. Several members went to the Edelweiss German Restaurant for dinner. Others chose to stay in.

Friday was a day on our own. Some visited Staunton, Stuart’s Draft, and Waynesboro, some visited a winery.

Happy hour again at 4:00 which continued until dinner. Judy and Gene provided baked potatoes and the members provided toppings which included cheese, broccoli, pulled pork, chili, sour cream and bacon. We had ice cream for dessert and enjoyed sitting around after dinner and visiting.

Saturday morning we had a tasty potluck breakfast with breakfast casseroles, potatoes, grits, fruit, and crepes. Thanks to Rex for getting out early to make coffee!

Again, several people visited area yard sales, antique stores and toured a car show at the campground. Some rested in coaches.

We again enjoyed Happy hour beginning at 4:00. We told everyone about our day. Later we had a potluck dinner which consisted of salads, deviled eggs, spaghetti, pork, chicken, meatballs, and green beans and potatoes. Bill held a brief meeting to discuss upcoming elections for President of FMCA. Feliza made a delicious lush pie and peanut butter brownies for dessert.

Sunday morning Betty and Rex served a continental breakfast consisting of bagels, fruit, donuts, muffins, and juice. Thanks again to Rex for getting up early to fix coffee for us! Bill talked about Father’s Day in his devotional. After taking down the tent, everyone said their goodbyes and headed home. A great time was had by all.

A note from one of your hosts in June. (Judy Matthews)

It was without a doubt the most enjoyable rally I have ever hosted. Our chapter has proven this year that we do not need to exhaust the host to have a good time; in fact, everyone I talked to thoroughly enjoyed the potluck aspect of our meals. So, please feel free to keep up the potluck tradition; it not only shares the work among all in attendance, but our taste buds get excited with all the different flavors as well!
