May 2022 Rally

Our May Rally of 2022 was held Thursday, May 19 to Sunday, May 22, during the hottest weekend of 2022. It was a great place to be in 90-degree weather as there was a cool breeze; we had good shade for our conviviality and mealtimes.
Friday a large group went to the Route 11 Potato Chip factory for a short presentation on how they make their delicious potato chips and we got to sample a number of the flavors. From there we made a short stop at the Edinburg Mill, one of the few mills in the area that survived the Civil War. Then we did what our club does best…we went to lunch at Swover Creek Brewery which had brick oven pizza! Pizza was followed by a tasting trip to the Muse Winery.
Rex, Betty, their friend Steve, and Baynard went kayaking on Friday and again on Saturday with friends that joined their adventure. Betty and Judy hosted the rally with help from Rex and Gene. All members helped with all rally activities as well. Other activities included a wedding that John and Robbie attended, picnic at Lake arrowhead for Gene and Judy, shopping, and sightseeing for others. And of course, don’t forget the opportunity to enjoy just chilling.
We invited a couple traveling from Alaska through Virginia to join us for Happy Hour. They were very interesting, and we enjoyed their company, especially those who have been or plan on going to Alaska.
Members in attendance included our new members Leon and JoAnne Kates and Charter Members Michael and Esther Malloy. We also had Bartons, Davis, Browns, Matthews, and Monroe/Franklin with guest Steve.
