September 2022 Rally

The Cardinal Virginians met at Paradise Lake Family campground in Spout Spring, VA on September 22-25, 2022. The rally was hosted by Sharon and Timm Seaman with ten coaches (19 people) in attendance. A slight cool down in weather provided a wonderful break from the summer’s heat so the weather for camping was perfect: warm days for activities and cool nights for a campfire.
Many enjoyed visiting the local Civil War monuments, battlefields, and museums, some found bargains at the large second-hand warehouse not far from the campground. Fifteen members had a great dinner Friday evening at the Rail Yard Restaurant in Appomattox, the first time (we believe) that the group has been able to go out to dinner together since Covid. The group repeated that experience by returning to the Rail Yard Saturday morning for breakfast.
Saturday evening was potluck with games, a business meeting, and another campfire. Highlights of the business meeting were voting for our 2023-2024 slate of officers; recognizing our outgoing President for his dedication and service to the club; and noting that the club will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2023 with the June 20-23 rally at Misty Mountain Campground.
Sunday morning the hosts provided a hearty breakfast of pancakes, sausage, muffins, fruit and juice. Chaplain Bill Brown provided the Sunday morning church service: “The Bible and Leadership”. Members in attendance were Bill and Cheryl Brown, Tim and Donna Handy, Sherree and Baynard Barton, Judy and Gene Matthews, Annette Williams and Irobell (Robbie’s daughter and foster son), Kamal Rojiani, and Sharon and Timm Seaman.
